Here are a few thing you can do to speed up Word


1. Click on Page Layout tab and then open Paragraph Settings and then under "Spacing" change "After" to 0 and then "Line Spacing" to Single and then click "Set As Default", select "All documents based on the Normal.dotm template?" and click OK.





2. Expand "Page Setup"  properties and change both "Header" and "Footer" to 0.25 and click "Set As Default"


   

  

3.  File>Options>General>Under Start up options uncheck "Open e-mail attachments and other uneditable files in reading view" and "Show the start screen when this application starts".


4. Go to Proofing and uncheck "Ignore words in UPPERCASE" and "Ignore words that contain numbers". Then change Writing Style: to Grammar & Style and then click Settings and change  "Spaces required between sentences" to "2"




5.  Disable animation. Go to File>Options>Advanced>Under Display check "Disable hardware graphics acceleration" and uncheck "Update document content while dragging" and "Use subpixel positioning to smooth fonts on screen"


6.  Disable Add-Ins. Go to File>Options>Add-Ins> Select COM Add-Ins then hit Go


Disabled unnecessary Add-Ins.

7. Simplify saving. File>Options>Save>check "Don't show the backstage when opening or saving files"
