Error: "Create DC error: Cannot find forms printer" opening Tax Preparation.

This error typically occurs when the CCH TaxPrint driver has become corrupt. 

  1. Close out of Tax Preparation.
  2. Open Devices and Printers through the Start Menu or in the Control Panel.
  3. Right-click on CCH TaxPrint and click Printer Properties.
  4. Click the Ports tab.
  5. The correct port the CCH TaxPrint driver should be set to is File.
  6. Choose a different port, any port will do.
  7. Click Apply.
  8. Check File and click Apply > OK.

Now open Tax Preparation. If the error persists, run a Workstation Setup.

Open Tax Preperation again. If the error persists, follow these next steps.

  1. Uninstall Workstation Setup. When prompted to reboot, click No.
  • Open Devices and Printers through the Start Menu or in Control Panel.
  • Right-click on the CCH TaxPrint printer and select Delete.
  • Answer Yes to the prompt "Are you sure you want to delete the printer 'CCH TaxPrint?'"
  • Close the Windows Control Panel.
  • Reboot your workstation.
  • Run Workstation Setup.
